What a quote! It spoke as much about the bowler, Arthur Mailey, as it did about Victory Trumper the batsman, who some cricketing greats rated even above Don Bradman. Trumper was a much-liked person who tragically died when he was just 37, which sent Australia into national mourning. If there is one modern batsman who would have evoked such a reaction in the cut-throat modern cricket, it would have to be Rahul Dravid. When he played his last Test innings at Adelaide in January 2012, one did not know it was going to be his farewell Test. Perhaps, looking back, Michael Hussey (who took the catch) and Ryan Harris (who was the bowler) felt like what Mailey did, while dismissing Trumper.
