Virat Kohli believes Wriddhiman Saha is the right man to replace MS Dhoni in Tests

Mahendra Singh Dhoni retired from Tests with immediate effect following the drawn Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne in December 2014. Virat Kohli was appointed India’s Test captain but Dhoni’s retirement has also vacated the post of a wicketkeeper. Kohli, who has from then taken the captaincy reins, has said that Wriddhiman Saha is the right man the man who will replace Dhoni as a wicket-keeper in Tests.

Kohli appreciated Saha’s dedication towards the game and thinks the latter deserves to be behind the stumps be the keeper for the next 5-6 years in Tests.

 

“Saha deserves this opportunity more than anyone else. Every time he’s got to play has been when MS has been injured. But now his time to be permanent in Tests has come, and I’m very excited about itAt 30, he’s very fit and extremely hard working. He deserves that spot in the Test side for at least the next 5-6 years,” Kohli said in a press conference.

 

The Delhi dasher also said that he is becoming calmer day by day and the captaincy brings out the best from him.
