Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and Ravi Shastri support women’s rights

The issue of women’s protection and rights have been in the headlines for a long time with numerous cases of the violation being reported daily. In a hope to inspire others to stand up for women’s rights, Team India members Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu along with Team Director Ravi Shastri recorded a special video for a Hyderabad-based NGO ‘My Choices’ for the campaign ‘Respect2Protect’.

In the video, the cricketers speak about protection for women and the respect they deserve. Talking about his idea of protecting and respecting women, Kohli says, “Protecting a woman means respecting her; protecting her choice to wear, to earn, to dream whatever she wants. Protect means respecting her independence, I will protect to respect.”

For Rayadu, “Protecting a woman means respecting her; protecting her opportunity to be and do anything that her determination, ability and dreams will let her do. Protect means respecting her opportunity.”

While Raina says, “Protecting our women is how we protect our mother, sister and girlfriend, it’s important that she can do whatever she wants and we need to support her and always be there for her.”

And for Shastri, “Protecting a woman means respecting her; protecting her emotional, sexual, economic and physical rights.” The campaign is aimed to alter the thinking of what it means to protect a girl or a woman. #Respect2Protect is trending on twitter to promote this wonderful campaign.
