Cricketers enjoy massive fan following and advertising agencies certainly make good use of it. Over the years, cricketers are often seen flirting with ads. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, who has been having a splendid run on the micro-blogging site Twitter, will now appear in a new avatar. Sehwag featured for a commercial for Stat Farm and is now one of the faces of its new campaign —"Here to help life go right."This partnership between Sehwag and a major US brand Stat Farm is also the first of its kind. In the past, Sehwag has also appeared for some famous ads like Coca-Cola and Reliance. The Cricket All-Stars series in November 2015 was also sponsored by State Farm. Patty Morris, Director of Advertising at State Farm, was quoted in a report from Cricbuzz saying, "We are thrilled to be working with Virender Sehwag. He had an outstanding career, is adored by fans around the world, and will certainly broaden our exposure in the South Asian community.” Sehwag is the only cricketer to have amassed 7,500 plus runs in both Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) as an opener. On the contrary, he is the only Indian cricketer to have honored as the Wisden leading cricketer in the world on couple of occasions. Sehwag said, "I'm delighted to be joining a brand that has such a rich heritage in sport as well as protecting people. When it comes to insurance, State Farm is a true all-rounder." The video is a hilarious one and well framed. In the ad, a family is excited about Sehwag’s presence in their neighbourhood and the woman in that family also terms him as the most dangerous batsman in the world. There was jubilation but they had no idea of what’s coming. In the next part, the family is again driving to their house; meanwhile Sehwag is busy smashing big sixes in the ground. As the family drives away, the same jubilation has turned into fear as the ball hits their car and then smashes the window pane, after which their kid screams in elation and chants out Sehwag’s name. Watch the video and be amazed. Sehwag has been on a wishing spree on Twitter and often seen encouraging the young talents. In fact, he has garnered enormous attention with his witty tweets. He has successfully replicated his magic here in the ad too.
