Richards had played four Sheffield Shield matches for Queensland during the 1976-77 season.

As reported by ACA website, ACA President Greg Dyer said, “We’re delighted to welcome Sir Viv Richards into the official ranks of the ACA. He remains a luminary throughout the cricket world and his involvement in the Big Bash League helps highlight the importance of active engagement once a cricketer’s playing days have come to an end.”

The ACA offers its members a wide range of benefits from – player rights; health and wellbeing; education and training; to career transition.
