For the first time uniquely, India enter the three-match Twenty20 International series against Australia as favourites on Australia soil. Ahead of the first match at the Gabba in Brisbane on Wednesday, Indian players are pulling all stops to ensure they are well prepared on the physical front. Legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal posted a video on Instagram on Tuesday of himself working out in the gym. “Trying to UP the game down under #stayahead #indvsaus,” he wrote. The diminutive Chahal s video got instant replies with many asking him to consume protein powder.

Veteran West Indies allrounder Chris Gayle joined in and wrote, “Lord help me.”

Earlier in the day, the BCCI announced the 12-member squad for the 1st T20I with Virat Kohli returning, after resting for the West Indies T20I series. Manish Pandey, who played the first T20I against West Indies misses out with Chahal, who has claimed 44 wickets in T20Is, named as the 12th member of the squad. Krunal Pandya retains his place in the team after a decent debut series with the Indian team while Rishabh Pant will take the gloves behind the stumps and will bat at No.5. (ALSO READ: Rishabh Pant to make wicketkeeping debut in first T20I) Washington Sundar, who played the final T20I against West Indies makes way for Jasprit Bumrah.

The four-match Test series will follow after the T20Is with the first Test slated to take place in Adelaide from December 6. Both teams will then be involved in a three-match ODI series in January.
