When a drunk Aaron Phangiso was barred from flying due to misbehaviour

Many talents and reputations have fallen victim to alcohol and the case seems to be the same with South African left-arm orthodox Aaron Phangiso. The talented spin bowler last played for South Africa in their One-Day International (ODI) series against India in late 2015. He barred from flying while he was returning home on completion of the series. The 31-year-old has been axed from the South African ODI side, which will soon play England.

The incident has been reported by Sport24. On October 26, Phangiso along with other South African ODI specialists were returning back from Mumbai after beating India 3-2 and were due to make a stop at Dubai.

Phangiso was barred from flying in the flight from Dubai to Johannesburg as he was found too drunk and also disturbed other passengers. Phangiso also brought shame to his nation as he was sporting the national kit. He was almost arrested before a Cricket South Africa (CSA) official intervened. It was suggested that the South African cricketer got sober and returned home in the next flight. It’s a shame that such an incident happened while he was involved in a series that was named after Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.

It’s not the first time that Phangiso has found himself in trouble due to alcohol. Earlier too he was arrested for drunk driving near Pretoria.
