As the incessant rains created havoc in Chennai and resulted in excess floods, Chennai based cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin said that he was scared and concerned about his family who is in Chennai after he was not able to get in touch with them.

Ashwin was quoted in a report from ANI saying, “I felt very helpless. While I was here I couldn’t hear from my friends and parents back home for 48 hours. It was all quite scary to see on the TV. We were trying to reach people back home but the networks were all jammed,” he said. “What made me happy as a Chennaite was that the community really stood up and common man won at the end.”
