Bangladesh started off the innings steadily with Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes taking the centre stage. In no time, Iqbal scored the much needed 38 runs to reach a new milestone of 5,000 One-Day International (ODI) runs in just 159 matches. He also becomes the first Bangladesh player to achieve this milestone. Tamim was at the top in the ODI series against Afghanistan as he scored half-century in the first and a century in the second, being adjudged as Man of the Match for the same. Meanwhile, his partner Kayes has also done a commendable job this series as he scored a century in the first ODI that went in vain as England took the lead. He also had a good outing in the practice match where he scored a century again. Bangladesh made this series interesting by leveling it and putting England in a crunch situation. At the end of the innings, Ben Stokes and Tamim were involved in war of words, but Shakib intervened to calm the situation down.
As for the match, England captain Buttler won the toss and elected to bowl first in the third one-day international against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. The three-ODI series is currently level at 1-1 after England won the first match by 21 runs and Bangladesh followed up with a 34-run win in the second match.
