Portuguese newspapers came out on Tuesday morning with criticism of their national team’s shocking 0-4 defeat by Germany at the FIFA World Cup 2014 on Monday.

 

A Bola‘s headline read “No Head nor Tail” with the photo of Pepe’s head butting German midfielder Thomas Muller, for which he received a red card, repors EFE. O Jogo was sarcastic with the headline: “Great Performance”, mocking the team’s disastrous outing.

 

Sports newspaper Record gave the headline “Disaster”, highlighting the deficient performance of team captain Cristiano Ronaldo. The defeat is the heaviest loss for Portugal in the World Cup so far.
