Uruguay perhaps had one of the worst starts in the history of Copa America. Not only did they concede a goal in the opening four minutes of the match, but prior to the match, the wrong National Anthem was played, when their turn came. It is believed that the National Anthem of Chile was played instead of theirs. All the Uruguayan players were left bamboozled and gave empty expressions throughout. This is not the kind of start Uruguay would have wanted, but they will now somehow have to go on and win the game and get off the mark in the competition. However, an apology was issued by Copa America at the half-time interval. In a statement, it said,”This evening during the pre-match ceremony, due to human error, we inadvertently played the incorrect national anthem,” a statement read. “We sincerely apologize to the Uruguayan Federation, the Uruguay national team, the people of Uruguay and to the fans for this mistake. We will work with all parties involved to ensure such an error does not occur again,” as reported by goal.com.

Uruguay have gone into the match without the services of Luis Suarez. As a result, Edison Cavani will lead the attack. Uruguay have a solid defence, but that early own goal would have been a wake up call for them. Earlier, Venezuela overcame Jamaica by a goal to nil in the first match of Group C. It was a 15th minute  goal that separated the two sides and Venezuela did extremely well to hold on to the single goal lead for most parts of the match.
