Euro 2016 is just around the corner and the excitement is growing. While the usual big guns like Spain, Germany, England are already aiming for the cup, there are some teams which are hoping to shock everyone. Poland can be considered one from that lot, despite having quite a few prominent names. Their coach, Adam Nawalka has been with the national side since October 2013, hence there will be a good understanding between him and players. The team will be spearheaded by Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. They have been grouped alongside World Cup 2014 winners Germany, Northern Ireland and Ukraine. The top two will move to the next stage.

Poland have only appeared in two Euro’s before this. In both 2008 and 2012, they finished bottom of their group. In this year’s qualifying, they did show signs of vast improvement, finishing just a point behind leaders Germany. They also finished the group as the leading goal scorers, with 33 goals. Unsurprisingly, Lewandowski finished as the leading scorer with 13 goals in the whole of playoffs, proving his importance in the side.

If Poland stand any chance of going through their group, let alone winning the tournament, Lewandowski will be the key. The Bayern Munich star has been in scintillating form in past 3-4 seasons. Also, expect Jakub Błaszczykowski and Grzegorz Krychowiak to be of significant importance in the midfield. Their defence also have the experienced Łukasz Piszczek, with Wojciech Szczęsny in goal.
