Turkey are a surprise package in this tournament placed with Croatia, Czech Republic and most lethal Spain who are the Defending Champions of Euro 2016. They will be playing their first match against Croatia on June 12. According to critics, this Turkey side is their strongest ever with the likes of Arda Turan and Fatih Terim. They made a miraculous comeback in Euro 2016 qualifiers to reach the Euro 2016 team list. They will be aiming at the semi-final spot with Barcelona midfielder Arda turan by their side. If they fail to make it in the Top 2 in their group, there is a good chance that they might make it into Top 16 by the four No.3 spot teams to be selected for knockout stages.

History

Turkey qualified in Euro Championship for the first time in the history in 1996. They had a horrible season and ended up on 15th spot at the end of the tournament after being knocked out in the group stages. In 2000 they finished fifth after losing in quarter-finals. They failed to qualify in 2004 after which they had the best season in 2008 reaching the semi-finals. They failed to qualify in 2012.

Current Form

Their current form has not been up to the mark as they barely qualified for the tournament. They will be banking on the services of star mid-fielder Arda Turan. They are expected to be the surprise package of the tournament and might pull off an upset by knocking out Spain.

Players to watch out for

Arda Turan is the man of talent in Turkey side. He has been responsible for 9 goals in one way or another in the last 11 games. The 29 year old Barcelona mid-fielder is the best chance his side has got to make it into knockouts.
