Amravati: Maharashtra Police will take on Leaders Club, Mumbai in the final of the Maharashtra State Football Championship on Tuesday. In the semi-finals played, Maharashtra Police vanquished Qidwai Club, Nagpur 5-0, while Leaders Club drubbed Siddharth Club, Amravati 3-0 to set up the summit clash at Science Core Ground. In the first match, Lonag put Leaders in the lead in the second minute when he headed in a superb throw-in lob from Prince. In the 32nd minute, Landy made it 2-0 when he pounded in a left-wing cross to perfection.

After half-time, Siddharth Club, which arrived an hour late at the venue, then indulged in rough play, inviting a red card for Amit first and Nikhil later. Qidwai could not match their muscular and mighty rivals in Maharashtra Police, who led 3-0 at the breather through the spectacular headers by Warty (18th minute), Akshay (24th) and Pawan (26th). On resumption, Pawan again came good, scoring a beautiful field goal in the 50th minute. Himeket made it 5-0 four minutes later to seal Qidwai’s fate.
