Sony Norde was backed by Haiti’s manager to play 90 minutes

Haiti suffered a big defeat against Ecuador in Group B tie of Copa America. However, Sony Norde (Mohun Bagan’s left winger) was the only positive Haiti could take from an embarrassing defeat today. He was backed by his manager to play through 90 minutes of the game. He failed to score a goal but was appreciated for his efforts in the field. Haiti were outclassed in every department of the game failing to create chances or defend. They had 52 per cent possession but were able to take only eight shots out of which only three were on target. Only one header seemed to threaten the goalkeeper which he diverted over the crossbar.

Norde was given three star out of five at the end of the day by Goal’s match report. He has been doing well for Mohun Bagan in ISL for the past two season. He helped his team win in Federation Cup and I- League. He was rated the highest at the end of the match among his teammates. He was the only one who posed a few problems for Ecuador defenders and trying to the net the ball. He did not have much support from his teammates to launch a lethal attack against Ecuador and make an impact.
