We have great news! The covers are off and the Bangladesh players are out warming up. We may not be far away from the action now.

UPDATE - 1558 IST (1628 local) - The rain continues to fall and the covers are firmly in place. Chances of the game resuming looks difficult as the draigange is not the best here. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Nothing new to update, the rain continues to fall and the covers are still on! The wait continues.

Till the rain arrived, it was all Bangladesh. Their openers got them off to a flier. Das fell just short of a half ton but Rony Talukdar continued to smash the bowlers all around the park. Rony Talukdar was the main stay. Bangladesh did slow down as the game progressed and rightly so, the wicket does seem a little tacky and it was quite evident the new batters found it difficult to score from the word go after making their way out to the middle. Ireland were poor with the ball, they just did not find the right lines and lengths, they were either too short or too wide. To be honest, they would not mind this rain to keep falling as we feel, they have already been batted out of the game.

Earlier in the day, after being inserted, Bangladesh crossed the 200-run mark thanks to their openers but just as the innings was coming to an end, the rain arrived and with three balls to go to complete the 20th, the covers were got on. Then there was a long break however, the rain stopped and Ireland needed 104 in 8 overs which they were not able to chase.

A convincing win then for Bangladesh to take a 1-0 lead in the series and it is also their 4th win in a row. The start though was brilliant for Ireland. Chasing over 100 in 8 overs, Ross Adair and Paul Stirling hit the ball to all parts of the groud in the Powerplay but once that ended, wickets fell in heaps. Taskin Ahmed was the star with the ball with a four-fer but the likes of Shakib, Hasan Mahmud and Mustafizur Rahman were also very impressive.
