We are back for the chase! The Zimbabwe players are making their way out in the middle. Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd, the two openers for Netherlands are already out there. Richard Ngarava to start proceedins with the ball. Here we go...

Right then, Zimbabwe have posted a respectable total here and keeping in mind that they bowled out Netherlands for 191 in the warm-up game, they will confident of defending this with the momentum and the crowd also behind them. Netherlands know that they could have been chasing a lot lesser, but now will have to bat their skins out to take a lead in the series. It will be a really exciting chase to watch and join us in a bit to see how it unfolds.

Netherlands will feel like they let this slip away from them as they were in pole position when they reduced the hosts to 98-7. The duo of Fred Klaassen and Paul van Meekeren used the conditions really well and extracted some extra bounce which really troubled the hosts as they could not handle it. However, Scott Edwards missed a trick in the middle overs bowling too much spin and allowed the hosts to get back in the game and post a really good total which wasn't at all looking likely after the first 20 overs. This shows that they still have a lot to learn and not give the opposition any opening when they are on top, As experineced teams will always punish whenever they get the opportunity. Fred Klaassen was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets while Paul van Meekeren picked up a couple of scalps. Brandon Glover, Vikramjit Singh and Shariz Ahmad all chipped in with one each.

Zimbabwe showed immense fight and character with the blade. They were pushed on the back foot right from the start as their top-order were already back in the hut inside the first Powerplay. They were reduced to 70-5 and then 98-7 and were starring down the barrel. However, two heroes, Wellington Masakadza and Clive Madande stepped up for them and slowly and steadily repaired their innings and built a great partnership for the eighth wicket. They looked unfazed by the Netherlands attack and added a crucial 70 runs together before a lapse of concentration ran Masakadza out. That did not effect Madande as he got good support from Richard Ngarava who played a few lusty blows and both of them built another fifty-run partnership. In the end, Clive Madande finished with a well made 74 and Zimbabwe managed to get close to 250.

An excellent recovery from Zimbabwe! They needed someone to step up, and Clive Madande did exactly that and how. He notched up his maiden-ODI half century and helped his side comeback from a precarious situation. Netherlands will be disappointed, and now has huge task on their hands to get the win.

We are moments away from the start of the game, but first the players of both teams line up for their respective national anthems. It will be Netherlands' first followed by the national anthem of Zimbabwe.

Craig Ervine, the captain of Zimbabwe says that it looks a good wicket and will mostly be the same for both teams. Adds that it is crucial to get through the first 8 overs and then capitalise on it. Tells that it is nice to have a lot of cricket being played which is good for the players to gain experience.

Scott Edwards, the skipper of Netherlands says they will bowl first as the pitch might well remain similar throughout the day. He adds the team has had a month's preparation and is looking forward to this series. He closes by saying that they will be looking to chase whatever is posted in front of them and the wins they have against Zimbabwe means nothing as that was in totally different conditions in the past.

Teja Nidamanuru is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his match-winning century. He says that the team combination is such that he bats at number 7 which gives a nice balance. Adds that you dream about these moments and he is excited and proud of this effort. Mentions that the plan was to build partnership and take the game deep which they were able to do. Tells that Wellington Masakadza bowled well and Zimbabwe were good, but is happy that they got the better of them.

Scott Edwards, the victorious skipper of Netherlands says it hasn't sunk in yet as a victory after this long feels really good. He adds that we were holding on to a little bit of faith after the dismissal of Colin Ackermann but Teja Nidamanuru and all did sensationally and helped the team over the line. Tells that victory in the first game feels so good that too after being way ahead in the start and getting to chase down such a total it feels good. Closes by saying that it feels amazing to break the jinx of defeats on a trot and is delighted at the moment.

Craig Ervine, the captain of Zimbabwe says that Netherlands quicks used the conditions really well, but it was a great innings from Clive Madande. Adds that there was extra bounce, but it got better slightly. Tells that they could have bowled a bit better a tighten up things, but dropping catches always hurts you. Praise Teja Nidamanuru for his excellent innings and hopes that they put on a better performance in the field in the next game. Informs Sean Williams will be fit for the second ODI.

Presentation Time...

After being asked to bat first Zimbabwe started off poorly and were 7 down on a score of 98 but the tail wagged and wagged in some style as they built partnerships and helped the team to score 249 before getting bundled out. Wicket-keeper Clive Madande was outstanding for the hosts as he was the last to depart on a score of 74. For the visitors it was Fred Klaassen that stood out on top as he took 3 wickets and was very well supported by Paul van Meekeren as he grabbed a couple too. Brandon Glover, Vikramjit Singh and Shariz Ahmad took a wicket each as well. 

In reply to the target set by the hosts, Netherlands started off in the same fashion and lost wickets on a regular basis and the scoring rate was not good either as they were 5 down for 64. It was then for Colin Ackermann to stable the ship and score a good half-century. The tail wagged for the visitors as well as a century from Teja Nidamanuru helped the team to get across the line and get the much-awaited victory ever since June 2021.

What a superb victory for Netherlands! In a game where the tail wagged for both, it is Netherlands who came out on top and takes the lead in this 3-match ODI series. The maximum from Paul van Meekeren gives the Dutch their first away victory in ODI since 2014 and the first one in ODI since June 2021.
