Mayank Markande took a five-wicket haul as England Lions crumbled to spin once again with India A recording an innings and 68 runs win in the second and final Unofficial Test in Mysore.

Following on after being skittled for 144 in the first innings, England fared a little better in their second attempt on Day 3 to be bowled out for 180 runs in reply to India A’s 392- all out.

Resuming on their overnight total of 24/0, the tourists were given an early blow when spinner Jalaj Saxena trapped opener Max Holden on 7.

Ben Duckett scored 50 off 61 before becoming Saxena’s second victim. He brisk innings featured four fours and two sixes which also turned out to be the highest for England Lions. Duckett’s departure resulted in a collapse with Markande running through their batting order. Lewis Gregory (44 off 49) and Sam Billings (20 off 50) resisted but failed to make any significant impact with the hosts finishing ending the tour on a winning note.

Gregory was the last man to be dismissed off Markande as he completed his fifer to finish with 5/31. Saxena returned figures of 2/40 while Navdeep Sainia, Shabaz Nadeem and Varun Aaron chipped in with a wicket each.

The first Unofficial Test of the series, played at Krishnagiri Stadium in Wayanad, Kerala, produced a draw.

England Lions thus lost both the one-day and unofficial Test series. India A had won the first four one-day matches while the Lions took a hard-fought consolation win in the final match with the series ending 4-1.
