Tilak Varma’s fighting half-century, accompanied by a steady partnership with Shivam Dube kept India’s innings afloat and helped the Men in Blue secure a 5-wicket victory over Pakistan in an intense final moment battle in the Asia Cup 2025 final.

Being invited to bat first, Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman stitched up a strong opening partnership- with scores of 57 and 46 respectively. Farhan was the one to get dismissed by the half-inning mark, and everything went downhill from there. Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub could only last a short while on the pitch.

The second dismissal was during the 13th over, and after that- there was a wicket within almost every 6 ball, with Kuldeep Yadav even claiming three wickets in one of his over.

Indian innings began on a shaky note, as star opener Abhishek Sharma and captain Suryakumar Yadav got dismissed in the opening overs. Shubman Gill also departed as the Men in Blue were 3 down in the powerplay. Sanju Samson was then sent in to help steady the innings but failed to do so.

After Sanju Samson’s dismissal, the hoped for the Indian team were drowning, but it was the battling half-century by Tilak Varma that kept India’s innings afloat, accompanied by a steady partnership with Shivam Dube that kept the team alive.

Playing till the end, Shivam Dube unfortunately got dismissed, with Tilak Varma staying there till the end and playing a match-winning 53-ball 69.
