Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Elite C, Round 3, Day 4: Rajasthan go top with third straight win

Rajasthan s impressive start to the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy continued with a third straight win, this one by 92 runs over hosts Jharkhand in Ranchi to put them on top of Elite Group C.

As with the last win, this one came after Rajasthan put up a low score (100) in their first innings and conceded the lead. A stirring fightback in the second, however, set Jharkhand a target of 328 which proved out of reach on the final day.

From 24 without loss at stumps on Thursday, Jharkhand lost two wickets with the score 58 as Tanveer-ul-Haq and Nathu Singh struck in succession, before Tanveer returned to trap Virat Singh lbw for 27 to spark a second wobble. From 115/3 the home team fell to 153/6 with Rahul Chahar dismissing Saurabh Tiwary, Anand Singh and Anukul Roy in a match-sealing spell.

Ishank Jaggi made his second half-century of the match before he was ninth out for 51 as Chahar finished the match with 5/77.

Brief scores: Rajasthan 100 and 379 beat Jharkhand 152 & 235 (Jaggi 51, Chahar 5/77) by 92 runs
