Debutant Rohera’s double gives Madhya Pradesh imposing lead over Hyderabad

Madhya Pradesh continued to have a field day against Hyderabad with opening batsman Ajay Rohera and Yash Dubey making merry on Day 2 of their Group B Ranji Trophy match at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Having skittled Hyderabad for 124 in their first innings on Thursday, debutant Rohera and Dubey scored a double century and a hundred respectively to take Madhya Pradesh to a dominating 539 for 4, a massive lead of 415 runs.

Resuming the day on 168 for 1, Madhya Pradesh produced a near flawless display of batting. Perhaps the only three glitches they suffered were the dismissals of Rajat Patidar – dismissed without adding a run to his overnight score – Shubham Sharma and wicketkeeper batsman Naman Ojha. Coming together at 278 for 4, Dubey and Rohera have added an unbeaten 261 run partnership with the opener going past 250.

Playing his first First-Class game, Rohera reached his double century with a pull for six off pacer Mohammad Mudhasir, while Dubey was equally impressive unbeaten on 128.

Brief Score: Madhya Pradesh 539 for 4 (Ajay Rohera 255*, Yash Dubey 128*), lead Hyderabad by 415 runs.
