A Singhania’s 4/42 in 14 overs helped Meghalaya bowl out Manipur for 211 on day one of round four of Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season at JU Second Campus, Salt Lake, Kolkata on Wednesday, after which Meghalaya opener RR Biswa’s 47 helped his team to 82/1 at stumps.

After opting to field first, Manipur lost two quick wickets with Lakhan Arjun Rawat (8) and Priyojit K (5) falling to Abhay Negi and Chengkam Sangma, respectively, inside the first seven overs.

However, opener P Prafullomani and skipper Yashpal Singh added 83 runs for the third wicket to steady Manipur. Singhania though broke the partnership claiming Prafullomani for 64. an over later, Singhania got rid of Bimol Kh for 3 to leave Manipur reeling at 110/4. Regular wickets then dented Manipur as Yashpal departed for 33 to Sangma.

The last five could only add 60 runs with Singhania finishing with four wickets while Gurinder Singh claimed 3/52. Sangma finished with 2/25.

In reply, Manipur’s Th Kishan got rid of Meghalaya opener Tarique Siddique early for 4, but Biswa and skipper JJ Lamare put on an unbeaten 59 runs to take Meghalaya 82/1, trailing Manipur by just 129 runs.
