Uttarakhand’s Karthik Joshi hit his maiden double century scoring an unbeaten 208 off 308 balls including 19 boundaries and combined with skipper Rajat Bhatia, who scored a quickfire 152 off 142 balls with 17 fours and three sixes, for a huge stand of 246 runs for the fifth wicket, taking the team to 470/4 declared on day two of round four of the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season vs Arunachal Pradesh at DN Singha Stadium, Goalpara on Thursday.

After bundling out Arunachal Pradesh for a paltry 105 on day one, Uttarakhand had Arunachal at 98/2 in their second dig at close of play with an overall lead of 267 runs and look set for their fourth straight win – their third with a bonus.

Starting the day at 176/3, Uttarakhand lost the wicket of last match’s double centurion Saurabh Rawat  for 31 to Myendung Singpho, after which Joshi and Bhatia pummelled the Arunachal bowling attack.

Arunachal used nine bowlers hoping to break the partnership, but to no avail. Licha Tehi, Techi Neri, Subhash Sharma and Singpho claimed one wicket each.

In their second dig, Arunachal did much better with opener Samarth Seth scoring 60 off 77 but he was out to Malolan Rangarajan with six overs remaining in the day. Sunny Rana, who had claimed 3/30 in Arunachal’s first innings got rid of Neelam Obi for 6 in the final ball of the day. At stumps, opener Techi Doria was unbeaten on 19, which Arunachal trailing Uttarakhand by 267 runs.
