Domestic veteran Paras Dogra smashed a record-setting eighth double ton in Ranji Trophy, leading his team Puducherry to 418/4 in the opening day of round five of Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season against Sikkim at the Krishnagiri Stadium, Wayanad on Thursday.

After Sikkim elected to bat on a seamer friendly track, Ishwar Chaudhary provided the early breakthrough scalping opener Thalaivan Sargunam in the first over for 0. However, after the early success, Sikkim had to wait 61 overs to get the next wicket as Dogra and Vikneshwaran Marimuthu added 285 runs for the second wicket.

Marimuthu scored 78 before falling to Lee Yong Lepcha. Skipper Damodaren Rohit then added 101 runs for the second wicket with Dogra, scoring 59. During the partnership, Dogra scored his eighth double ton – the most for a player in Ranji Trophy. Dogra departed for 253 taken by Bipul Sharma, followed by the wicket of Rohit for 59. At close of play, Fabid Ahmed was unbeaten on 9 while Saju Chothan was not out on 4.
