Jammu and Kashmir managed to take first innings lead over Uttar Pradesh, bundling out the visitors for 188 after J&K had posted 290, but in their second dig, the home team were undone by left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar’s 5/21, that reduced J&K to 98/7 on day two of round five of Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season at the Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground, Jammu.

UP, who has started the day at 31/3, lost opener Madhav Kaushik for 15 early in the day to Akash Choudhary and with the wicket of Suresh Raina for 18, again taken by Choudhary, they found themselves tottering at 79/5. Skipper Akshdeep Nath scored 43 helping UP past the 100-run mark but dell to Waseem Raza.

However, Rinku Singh batted with the tail and added 66 runs before Parvez Rasool wiped out the tail claiming the last four wickets to fall. He removed Upendra Yadav for 16, Saurabh for 13, Imtiaz Ahmed for 0 and finally took Rinku’s wicket as UP were bowled out for 188, conceding a lead of 102 runs.

In reply, J&K lost openers Ahmed Bandy to Imtiaz for 19 before Yash Dayal sent back Ian Dev Singh for 8. Saurabh then picked five removing Fazil Rashid for 5, Parvez Rasool for 0, Irfan Pathan for 8, Shubham Khajuria for 14 and Paras Sharma for 14 as J&K slumped to 98/7 at close of play. J7K though have a hefty lead of 200 runs over UP.
