Ranji Trophy: Jharkhand fall short of chase to draw with Tripura

Jharkhand pushed hard for to seal seven points against Tripura on the final day of their round eight 2018-19 Ranji Trophy match, but in the end had to settle for a draw and three points.

Tripura, from an overnight 146/2, were bowled out for 308. Chasing a target of 153, Jharkhand were 144/7 in 21.5 overs when play was called off at Jamshedpur.

The batsmen didn’t waste much time going after the target. Kumar Deobrat top-scored with 38 from 31 balls, followed by Saurabh Tiwary with 37 from 40. Anukul Roy (10 from six) and Shahbaz Nadeem (20 from 15) all fell going for runs and eventually Jharkhand got within nine runs of chasing their target.

Earlier, Udiyan Bose made 91 and Neelambuj Vats got 55 not out for Tripura after the innings gave way from 170/3 to 206/8. Rana Datta (32) and Vats put on 100 for the ninth wicket to frustrate Jharkhand.
