Jharkhand captain Ishan Kishan slammed a second consecutive century as he lead them to a big 121-run win against Manipur in a round three clash of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019.

After being sent in, Kishan stroked his way to an unbeaten 113 off 62 while Virat Singh scored 73 not out off 46 powering their team to 219/1 in Vijayawada.

Manipur crumbled under the scoreboard pressure of a mammoth target as barring veteran Yashpal Singh (40) none of the other batsmen put up a fight. In fact, seven of their batsmen registered single-digit scores.

Even though they lost just one wicket in the Powerplay overs, Manipur only managed 33 runs. The openers were out by the eighth over with Mayank Raghav scoring 17 while Prafullomani Singh managing just one.

Yahspal and Kshetrimayum Narisingh added 33 runs for the third wicket but failed to match the required run-rate. The partnership was broken when Narisingh holed out off Anukul Roy.

Rahul Shukla then took three wickets in an over including that of Yashpal, Priyojit Singh (4) and Rajesh Singh (0) leaving Manipur in tatters at 76/6 in 14.5 overs.

However, they managed to see through the rest of the overs, finishing at 98/9.

Ishan followed his unbeaten 100 against Jammu and Kashmir on Friday with another century and this became the second Indian and eighth overall to score hundreds in consecutive innings.

The 20-year-old hit 12 fours and five sixes during his innings.

Together with Anand Singh (26), he led a bright start with the openers adding 54 in 4.2 overs. Following Anand’s dismissal, Virat joined Ishan and together they stitched an unbroken 165-run stand for the second wicket. Virat belted seven fours and three sixes during his second half-century of the season.

Utkarsh Singh (3/7) and Rahul Shukla (3/14) were the pick of Jharkhand bowlers.

Brief Scores: Jharkhand 219/1 (Ishan Kishan 113*, Virat Singh 73*) beat Manipur 98/9 (Yashpal Singh 40; Utkarsh Singh 3/7, Rahul Shukla 3/14) by 121 runs
