Opting to bat first, HP rode on 52 from Ekant Sen to post 167/8, but Taide start, coupled with some late hitting from Ravi Jangid (25 off 15 balls) ensured Vidarbha started their campaign with a win.

HP didn’t have the best of starts losing opener and skipper Ankush Bains for 3 to Shrikant Wagh followed by the wicket of Prashant Chopra for 20, taken by Darshan Nalkande. Sen and Ankit Kaushik then added 43 runs for the third wicket, before Kaushik departed for 8 to Akshay Karnewar.

Sen found support in Rishi Dhawan, who scored 23 off 18 before falling to Yash Thakur, followed by a run out by Taide to remove Sen. but Nitin Sharma’s 15-ball 36 and Pankaj Jaiswal’s 8-ball 14 ensured HP posted a healthy total on the board.

In reply, Taide and Jitesh Sharma got Vidarbha off to a flying start, adding 68 runs for the first wicket in just 5 overs. Taide was the first to depart, run out by Chopra. Jitesh followed soon after for 37 – cleaned up by Ayush Jamwal.

Skipper Faiz Fazal and Ganesh Satish took Vidarbha past the 100-run mark but the team lost way in the middle, losing three wickets for just six runs. Satish was scalped by Chopra for 7 while Fazal departed to debutant Ankit Maini, followed by the wicket of Apoorv Wankhade by Chopra for 2.

Karnewar and Jangid then got their team ahead with a stand of 25 runs for the sixth wicket. With eight runs needed off the last over, Vidarbha lost Nalkande off the first ball before Jangid helped his team cross the line.

Brief Scores: Vidarbha 171/7 (Atharva Taide 43, Jiesh Sharma 37; Prashant Chopra 2/18) beat Himachal Pradesh 167/8 (Ekant Sen 52; Shirkant Wagh 3/32) by three wickets.
