In the 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were going along steadily despite losing the wicket of the well set batsmen bu with the spinners on, the batsmen were not able to get the boundaries easily and were resigned to rotate the strike without any big hits. Venugaopal Rao, in particular was chewing up a lot of deliveries in the middle. Dhawan’s Lion whiskers was replaced with a cat’s during this spell.

Umesh Yadav came on to bowl the seventh over and he was hit for three boundaries. That helped Hyderabad get some momentum as they moved out of the powerplay. Ryan ten Doeschate was then brought in and after a few dot balls, Ojha smashed him for six over long on. But then Ojha hit a skier in the air and ten Doeschate settled under it and took the catch.

Earlier, Kolkata captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and chose to bowl first. Kolkata made no changes to the side but Hyderabad brought in Jason Holder and Srikkanth Aniruddha.
