AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn and Wayne Parnell are set to leave Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016 mid-way after Cricket South Africa (CSA) has called them back to attend the annual awards ceremony that they along with the South African Cricketers’ Association host. De Villiers and Parnell play for CPL’s Barbados Tridents, while Steyn represents Jamaica Tallawahs. The tournament organisers confirmed on Tuesday that Ahmed Shehzad and Marchant de Lange have been named as replacements by Tridents. Meanwhile, Tallawahs have opted for uncapped South Africa fast bowler Dane Paterson as their replacement. READ: Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel on Perth Scorchers’ radar for BBL 2016-17

Tridents will miss the services of de Villiers as he was their top-scorer so far in the T20 league with 234 runs at an average of 58.50.  Parnell on the other hand has picked 7 wickets from 7 matches. Steyn has taken 8 wickets for Jamaica Tallawahs at an average of 18.62 and an economy rate of 6.82. He may want that tally to improve on Wednesday, when he would take the field for the final time this season.

Shehzad earlier represented Tallawahs in the CPL. If he bags a place in the playing XI in the next game for Tridents on July 20, he will face his former team, Tallawahs. De Lange, too, has featured in the CPL before, having played for Guyana Amazon Warriors last year. He will join Tridents ahead of their match against St Lucia Zouks on July 23.

Tallawahs so far are at the top of the points table with 11 points from 7 matches. Tridents have played a game less and placed third at present with seven points.
