South Africa captain AB de Villiers is delighted after his side won the Zimbabwe Triangular Series, 2014. The Proteas ended their 12-year drought in tournament finals and knock-outs with victory against Australia.

“It’s easy to say now that we are winning games and all of a sudden I am a good captain. I feel I am in control, have been in control for a while. I am really enjoying the team environment we have created over the last while.”, de Villiers was quoted as saying by iol.co.za.

“There’s something really special happening at the moment. I have lots of faith in what we have created. I’m enjoying my cricket as a player and captain at the moment. I’m just having fun, and very proud to have a few trophies around me at the moment.”, he added.

De Villiers also added that the win against Australia gave them a lot of confidence, and the tour to New Zealand will be an another opportunity to test their mettle. “We handled the pressure exceptionally well. That was a big game, a big challenge against big rivals. It shows we have been playing good cricket and we’re on the right track. Lots of positive signs as we go going to New Zealand next that will give us a clearer indication as to where we at as an ODI team.”, he said.
