Before the launch of the book de Villiers gave a few insights to Times of India. De Villiers spoke on array of topics but what came surprising was his autobiography being launched during his playing juncture, “After the 2015 World Cup, I felt there was a story worth telling, and that it would be possible to write a story that interests and hopefully inspires people.” As known de Villiers was interested in many other sports apart from cricket and when asked how cricket happened to him, de Villiers added, “I enjoyed tennis and rugby but, from the age of 15, cricket was always going to be No.1 for me. It is a game of incredible variety. I have always loved it.”

India’s Virender Sehwag is always on the headlines for his wittiest comments be it political, sports or birthday wishes for his teammates, de Villiers however has mentioned one of his favorite innings of the right-hand batsman on his book, “It was just magnificent. Paul Harris, our left-arm spinner, was bowling outside leg stump, into the rough, to try and slow the game down. But Viru kept stepping away to leg and hitting him inside out through the covers for four. You don’t do that in Test cricket, but Viru did.”

India Test skipper and de Villiers Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli and his RCB teammate Chris Gayle get along on many levels. Both have broken tremendous records during the 2016 edition and share tremendous bonding off the field as well, “Virat and Chris are great players who have become great friends, and it’s been a great experience to play alongside them. Many people may be surprised that we get along so well, and there is absolutely no rivalry between us. We all pull for the team.”

De Villiers is still troubled about the failure to win ICC World Cup 2015 and considers it to be his greatest disappointment, “We just fell short on the day of the semifinal against New Zealand in Auckland. We played well, but we let some catches fall. That’s the game.” The book also mentions about his wife Danielle de Villiers and how he videographed the moment he proposed her. Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has fan all the way from South Africa and looks like de Villiers is all set to work with King Khan of Bollywood. During the IPL tenure, de Villiers enjoyed all the movies of Shah Rukh Khan and has also expressed interest to feature someday with him in a movie.
