Abdul Qadir raises questions over Inzamam-ul-Haq’s appointment as Pakistan chief selector

Karachi: Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir has slammed Inzamam-ul-Haq’s appointment as the team’s new chief selector, saying the former Test skipper has zero experience. The 60-year-old, however, described Inzamam as a skillful person and said that he should have been appointed as the batting coach of the team. Opposing Inzamam’s decision after his appointment, Qadir said the former is the most expensive chief selector Pakistan have ever had, but added that he has picked low-quality players in the panel in order to have full control over the committee.  ALSO READ: Inzamam-ul-Haq appointed PCB chief selector on 3-year term

Qadir also expressed his views on Waqar Younis’ successor, saying former West Indies skipper Sir Vivian Richards would be apt for the head coach’s role,the Dawn reported. The former Pakistan bowler admitted that Richards is a great cricketer and said that his experience would turn out to be beneficial for the team. Earlier, Inzamam was appointed as the Pakistan chief selector in a major overhaul of the team following the dismal World T20 campaign in India.

Former Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis has backed the appointment of Inzamam-ul-Haq as the new chief selector, saying that the latter would surely going to make a difference in the team’s performance. Inzamam was appointed as the Pakistan chief selector in a major overhaul of the team following the dismal ICC World T20 campaign in India. 46-year-old Inzamam, who represented Pakistan in 120 Tests and 398 One-Day Internationals (ODI), shortlisted former cricketers Tauseef Ahmed, Wasim Haider and Wajahatullah Wasti as a part of the new selection panel. Jubilant with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to implement one of his suggestions that he gave after the 2015 World Cup, Waqar said that Inzamam would not going to be dictated by anyone and insisted that everyone should support his appointment, the Express Tribune reported.
