The Indian team defeated England team in the opening clash of the five-match T20I series at the Eden Gardens. The team was chasing a mediocre target of 133, which they comfortably completed.

Winning the toss, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav decided to bowl first. The Indian bowling lineup was on point, with the fielders leaving no slack. Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy were the main focuses of the bowling attack.

Arshdeep came out of this match as the highest wicket-taker for India in T20I matches, whereas the three wickets by Varun Chakravarthy were the game-turner, as most of the main batters of the England team were dismissed by that time. The visitors got wrapped up for just 132 runs.

Indian team came in with the target of 133 runs. Sanju Samson came in with Abhishek Sharma to open the innings, with Samson departing on 26 runs. Suryakumar Yadav followed soon and went back for a duck. However, it was then only when Abhishek Sharma opened up his bat and scored 79 runs in 34 balls, with 5 fours and 8 massive sixes.

Hardik Pandya came in after Abhishek, when the team was needing a few runs. He played with Tilak Varma to comfortably complete the target. Eventually, Indian team won the match by 7 wickets, securing a lead in the series with 1-0 as of now.
