India thrashed Afghanistan in their maiden Test at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru winning it by an innings and 262 runs. However, playing Test was itself a big achievement for the terror-struck nation. In spite of an embarrassing defeat, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) chief Shafiqullah Stanikzai is confident of the nation bouncing back in Test cricket.

“We are not taking it on ourselves, there was a lesson to be learned,” Shafiqullah said

“It was a good thing that we faced the world number one Test side in our inaugural match. It has given us a real indicator if we are to become a top cricketing side in the world. I had a brief chat with the captain and he knows what needs to be done. We can only go higher and higher from here.”

Ajinkya Rahane showed wonderful gesture after the win when he invited the Afghanistan players to join the team for a group image.
