Aditya Tare, Mumbai’s wicketkeeper-batsman, has been named Mumbai’s newest Ranji Trophy captain for the next two matches of the 2014-15 season. Tare will replace Suryakumar Yadav, who stepped down as captain following a string of poor results for the 40-time Ranji Trophy champions.

According to Indian Express, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has appoint wicketkeeper Aditya Tare as Mumbai skipper for the next two matches. Mumbai’s next match will be against Baroda from January 29. However, qualification seems highly unlikely for the Mumbai side following their poor showing this season.

Tare plays for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and famously hit the first ball he faced for six to help them beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) and qualify for the IPL 2014 eliminator.
