Ireland are already engaged in their inaugural Test against Pakistan, while Afghanistan are gearing up for their first Test against India. The match has already gained eyeballs with India’s Test captain, Virat Kohli giving the tie a miss due to commitments with English county, Surrey. Speaking about the historic Test, Afghanistan skipper, Asghar Stanikzai said that they are playing India and not an individual in Kohli.
According to AFP Stanikzai said: “All Indian players are good and everyone is (a similar standard to) Virat Kohli. I believe we are playing with Team India and not with Virat Kohli.”
He also spoke about the condition on offer in India, which will offer help to Afghanistan as well. He said: “Indian conditions are good for spin and we are lucky to have good spinners. Our batsmen are in good form. In the last three or four years our team combination is good. We will try and play good and positive cricket. Winning and losing does not matter.”
The match from June 14 against India in Bangalore will welcome Afghanistan as the 12th Test playing nation.
