Zimbabwe carrying alot of confidence from their last game elected to bat first in the 3rd ODI against Afghanistan. They came back strongly in the second match which surprised everyone with the coincidences. Rashid Khan‘s five-for and Mujeeb Zadran’s 3 for 45 restricted Zimbabwe for 154 under 35 overs.

Afghanistan started well with the ball without conceding a single run in the first 17 balls. They even managed to reduce Zimbabwe to 48 for 3 at the end of Powerplay. Sikandar Raza and Craig Ervine added 73 runs to the fourth wicket partnership and took the score to 117 in 22 overs.

Double strike for Afghans 

Solomon Mire and previous match centurion Brendan Taylor were looking good but Mujeeb Zadran had other plans for them. He did not allow Taylor to stitch a partnership today dismissing him for 9 and followed it with Mire’s wicket a ball later.

Rashid Khan in the 23rd over was on a hat-trick after dismissing Raza and Ryan Burl. The spin duo restricted Zimbabwean players to score run resulting to wickets. They both shared eight wickets for 69 runs.

Rashid’s 5-for 

Rashid registered his third five-for in his 35th match. He got his first two wickets in the 23rd over as Afghanistan bowled Zimbabwe out 12 overs later. He picked up the main wickets of Ervine, Raza and Burl. He cleaned up the tail picking up the last two wickets as well.

In his spell of 8.3 overs he conceded 24 runs with 4o dot balls, one maiden over and five wickets with an economy under 3.
