Afghanistan won yet another thrilling encounter against Zimbabwe as they thrashed the host nation by 6 wickets in the first T20 International of the three match series with 5 balls remaining. Winning the toss, Zimbabwe chose to bat first. Looking at the performance in the last match, Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura decided to send Sikandar Raza as an opener. Raza did justice to the decision while the other opener Chamu Chibhabha provided ample support to him. Both of them scored individual half centuries but after their departure, none of the batsmen could make a prominent impact and the Afghan bowlers dominated throughout. Afghanistan innings was built with equal support from all the players. Opener Mohammad Shahzad started off nicely with a 38 ball 34 while Mohammad Nabi and Najibullah Zadran ended things off well with 30 plus individual scores. The match saw a stylish finish from Najibullah who hit the first ball of the ultimate over for a sixer to give Afghanistan the desired victory. After winning the neck-to-neck ODI series by 3-2 and the first T20I as well away from home, Afghanistan team must be brimming with confidence and will surely loo forward to bag this series as well.

The second and last T20I of the tour takes place on October 28 at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.
