Afghanistan take on Ireland in the fifth One-Day International (ODI) of their ongoing triangular series in the United Arab Emirates(UAE), also involving Scotland. The match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

In their last match, Niall o’Brien’s 12th One-Day International fifty ensured Ireland got over the line and beat Scotland by three wickets in Match three of the Dubai Triangular series. Scotland bowlers put in a spirited effort with the ball but failed to close the match as Niall o’Brien with support from the lower order took the Irish home with 21 balls to spare.

It was a second consecutive cliffhanger in the series and Irish have made a habit of beating teams by three wickets. Ireland have now won two out of two games in the tri nationa tournament where as Scotland lost both their matches.

On the other hand, Scotland have mauled Afghanistan by 150 runs in the fourth match of the Dubai Triangular Series. Going into the match with two out of two losses in their previous matches, Scotland were short of morale but after this victory, will be oozing with it.

Things didn’t look too bright for Scotland early in Afghanistan’s innings as they marched their way to 38 for no loss in their first six overs in response to Scotland’s 213. But things changed extremely fast from there. Josh Davey triggered a collapse and from there on Afghanistan almost bled wickets.
