Ajay Lalcheta to captain Oman in World Cricket League Division 5
Ajay Lalcheta was the star player for Oman and is now rewarded with Captain's responsibility for future prospects
Oman had a really good run as underdogs in both T20 Asia Cup 2016 and World Cup T20 2016. They thank their fans for the support they got during the tournaments as they got backed by them even after failing to qualify for both. They still have a long way to go and playing more number of Cricket matches will only do good to them. The main highlight of the Round 1 T20 World Cup was Oman beating Ireland in last over drama stunning everyone. There celebration was short-lived as they were knocked out of the tournament before Super-10 but showcased great passion and dedication towards the game. It was too much to ask from the inexperienced team to beat all the odds and enter Super 10 of T20 World Cup and T20 Asia Cup. The Oman team needs to play more cricket in order to get into the groove for International Cricket. They are gearing up for World Cricket League to be held in Jersey from 21st May to 28th May 2016. Teams who will be participating in the tournament are Oman, Jersey, Tanzania, Nigeria, Guernsay and Vanuatu. These teams are set to play 18 games among each other including final. In order to get them ready for the challenge, Oman is including new players to the side keeping in mind the future of Cricket in the country.for the One-Day format. Ajay Lalcheta is set to be the next captain of the side alongside Vice-captain Jatinder Singh for the series. Ajay Lalcheta was very impressive and praised for his tight bowling in T20 World Cup. Oman Cricket also thanked Sultan Ahmed who captained the team over the years showing immense commitment towards the betterment of Cricket in Oman.
