Ajinkya Rahane receives letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Ajinkya Rahane, who is part of India's ongoing ODI series versus Australia, has accepted Shri Narendra Modi's invitation for Swachhta Hi Seva movement.

In India, cricket, bollywood and politics are inter-related in many ways. Some way or the other, the three finds a connection. Now we all know one of Bhartiya Janta Party’s (BJP) primary focus has been towards forming a clean society. Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi even launched Swachh Bharat movement to shift the country’s focus towards a clean society with people’s participation on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), 2014. Since Mahatma Gandhi always believed in cleanliness through community’s participation, Modi has assured big names from the film industry and sports, cricket in general, come forward to contribute in the movement. It leads to more eyeballs and several getting inspired by seeing their idols working selflessly for the cause.

With Gandhi Jayanti approaching, Modi has invited India‘s Test vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane, for a Swachhta Hi Seva campaign, and dedicate some time for the noble cause of Swachh Bharat. Rahane shared the invitation, jotted down by the Prime Minister, on twitter today morning:

Rahane is currently a part of the ODI squad facing Australia at home. Though he has featured in both the ODIs, of the five-match series, the right-hander has already given a nod to the campaign and deemed it as an honour to receive the letter from Modi.

Rahane has, so far, represented India in 40 Tests, 81 ODIs and 20 T20Is. He has tasted most success in the longer format; boasting an average of 47.61. On the other hand, he has 3 hundreds and 20 fifties with an average of 34.25 in ODIs.
