Alastair Cook says he would take time to overcome disappointment following World Cup sacking

England‘s sacked ODI skipper Alastair Cook has admitted that it would take him a while to get over the disappointment after he was discharged off his captaincy responsibilities and was left out of the 15-man squad for the forthcoming World Cup next year.

Cook, who remains Test skipper, said that he was gutted to be left out of the World Cup squad and would likely to take him a while to get over the disappointment, adding that he extends his best wishes to the newly appointed captain Eoin Morgan and the entire team for the World Cup, the Mirror reported.

However, managing director Paul Downton said that he still believes he was the right man for the job but the selectors had to make a decision in the best interests of English cricket.

The squad will fly to Australia for a triangular series against India and the hosts, which has been viewed as a final preparation before the coveted tournament kick starts in February.
