Alastair Cook’s 263 against Pakistan in 1st Test third longest innings in terms of duration

Alastair Cook scored a fabulous 263 against Pakistan in the first Test of the three-match series at Abu Dhabi and his knock ranks in the top among innings that spanned greatest duration of batting. Cook was at the crease for a total of 836 minutes which brings him name to the third position on that list. The list is topped by Hanif Mohammad from Pakistan who batted for a mammoth 970 minutes for his 337. Gary Kirsten in second on the list for his 275 runs which came against England. Third on the list is Sanath Jayasuriya’s 340 against India which lasted 799 minutes. England’s Len Hutton ranks fifth for his 797-minute 364 against Australia. Hashim Amla’s unbeaten 311 of 790 minutes against England comes in next and he is followed by Brian Lara for his unbeaten 400 which lasted 778 minutes which also came against England. Brendon Kurrupu’s unbeaten 201 for Sri Lanka against New Zealand is next on the list with the knock consuming 777 minutes. Brendon McCullum’s 775-minute long 302 against India ranks next and the 10th spot is host to Lara once again for his knock of 375 that lasted 766 minutes.

The knock has put England in a rather commanding position and they have secured a lead of over 16 runs when Cook was dismissed by Shoaib Malik with three wickets left in hand.
