Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live updates of the Allan Border Medal 2018 ceremony. The night celebrates the best of Australian cricket in the year gone by. Apart from the coveted Allan Border Medal, the Belinda Clark Award will also be presented.

Glenn McGrath was the first ever recipient of the Allan Border Medal in 2000. Steve Waugh, Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, Mitchell Johnson and David Warner have since then staked claims on the medal.

Ponting has won the Allan Border Medal a record five times — in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010. Clarke won it four times, while Warner and Watson have claimed the medal twice each. Warner will hope to win his third medal in a row but is likely to be eclipsed by Steven Smith, after the latter’s record breaking 2017.
