Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu was heavily trolled on social media on Thursday after posting a message promoting peace amid rising India-Pakistan tensions.
His original post on X read, “An eye for an eye makes the world blind,” a message that many online users found ill-timed and insensitive in light of the escalating conflict.
In response to the online backlash, Rayudu followed up with a more detailed message, clarifying the intent behind his original tweet and urging people to understand its context.
“An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.â Letâs remember this isnât a call for weakness, but a reminder of wisdom. Justice must stand firm, but never lose sight of humanity. We can love our nation fiercely and still hold compassion in our hearts. Patriotism and peace can walk hand in hand.” Rayudu tweeted
Rayudu issued his clarification after several other prominent cricketers shared their own posts in response to the escalating India-Pakistan tensions.
