Lendl Simmons played some great shots to keep the scoreboard ticking for Mumbai Indians against Kings XI Punjab in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014.  He played shots all over the park which included fine shots over extra cover. However, Michael Hussey struggled at the other end and finally was cleaned up by Akshar Patel, the slow left arm orthodox. Abmbati Rayudu, who came into bat at No 3 batting position, played with a mature head on his shoulders.

Punjab have themselves to blame, as their batsmen couldn’t get going on a flat deck. In the end they ended up with only 156 runs on the board. Punjab need a slew of wickets to come back into the game against Mumbai in IPL 7. They especially need the wicket of Lendl Simmons. Punjab though, did get the wicket of Ambati Rayudu during the 11th over of the game. It has to be said though, Punjab have already qualified Playoffs.

Earlier, Punjab posted a total of 156 for eight in their 20 overs. Captain George Bailey top-scored with 39 off 30 deliveries. Manan Vohra scored 36 and Shaun Marsh added 30. Young leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal was the pick of the bowlers as he took two wickets.
