In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 played between Mumbai  Indians and Chennai  Super Kings at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai made a bright start with Lendl Simmons and Ambati Rayudu playing fine shots.  However, they did lose their opener, CM Gautam very early in the innings. Chennai’s bowlers were slightly erratic and their fielding too on occasions was a let down. They did drop Rayudu which can prove costly in the end as he is a fine batsman. Both batsmen are looking to consolidate after completion of nine overs.

Actually, Chennai won the toss and elected to field. Mumbai made one change at top of the order as Lendl Simmons was asked to open the batting. The right-handed batsman along with CM Gautam started cautiously.

For Chennai Badree, the quickish leg-spinner bowled a fine first over. He bowled good lines and lengths and didn’t give any room for the batsmen to free their arms and hits through the line. Ishwar Pandey bowled the second over of the game. He found a little bit of movement away from the batsmen during his first over.

Gautam opened his shoulders by playing two fine shots during the third over of the game, while facing Badree the leg-spinner. He used the depth of the crease well. He though, finally got out to Badree while trying to play a sweep across the line. Ambati Rayudu came into bat at No 3 position.
