Amit Mishra is set to represent his state team Haryana in their upcoming clash against Goa in Ranji Trophy 2016-17 to be played at Ghaziabad starting on Monday, November 21. The leg-spinner was released from the India‘s Test squad after he was dropped from ongoing second Test against tourists, England. The move has come as a welcome opportunity for the 33-year-old to cement his place back into the squad for the reminder of the five-Test series with a handy performance in domestic circuit. According to Cricbuzz, Mishra was dropped from the playing XI of the ongoing Visakhapatnam Test in favour of debutant Jayant Yadav. Mishra returned match figures of 3 for 152 in the first Test in Rajkot and admitted he was not upto the mark in the series opener against England.

“I wouldn’t say I bowled very well. It did take time for me to get my rhythm, especially since I was playing a Test after a long time. I was on the bench for two Tests in the West Indies and then sat out for the New Zealand Test series. Also, I was coming off from the ODI series so the transition from ODIs to Tests did take some time. But, I believe there was improvement in my bowling in the second innings and I bowled better,” added the veteran Mishra.

The Indian team management have already released Gautam Gambhir and he will also be playing for Delhi against Assam in Waynad. The Delhi squad also consists of Shikhar Dhawan, who will look to prove his fitness and return to the Test squad as the third opener. The third test in Mohali begins November 26.
