The Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) are set to finally announce the new head coach of the Indian national team on June 25. The brand Amul is known to doodle with latest trending topics around the country and the selection of India’s head coach is easily one of the most discussed topic at present in India. Amul represented it in yet another creative doodle of theirs with a caption, “sahi coach…kai soch?” The Indian board has received a total 57 applications for the prestigious post and it will be no easy decision for Anurag Thakur to choose one of those 57 applicants for the post. The list of 57 applicants has been cut down to 21. The next step in the process of selecting the coach will be a review of the remaining candidates by the BCCI’s cricket advisory committee, comprising former players Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. Sanjay Jagdale, who had served as BCCI secretary in the past, will act as chief co-ordinator of the committee for the duration of this process.


BCCI realised a statement which said, “Mr Sachin Tendulkar who is a key member of this committee, but is out of the country, has confirmed his availability as and when required through video conference facilities. The committee will be required to go through the process and on completion, recommend its choice of selection to the President of the BCCI, Mr Anurag Thakur, through the Hony Secretary. The primary operations and activities of the committee will be carried out in the Mumbai office of the BCCI.”

A number of high-profile names including Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, Sandeep Patil have applied for the top job.
